Moya Drive

Carl was engaged in 2022 to produce the landscape design for a new house on the outskirts of Matakana Village. The house site had been cut into a hillside of poorly-drained clay, with associated difficulties in establishing planting and lawn areas. Carl and his team set about rectifying this by adding subsurface drainage and replacing clay in the most poorly drained areas.

A hillside was planted in a mosaic of hardy, low-maintenance NZ and Australian natives with plenty of planting amendments (gypsum, compost, fertilizer, mulch, etc.). Roughly 1200 plants were planted with 300m of in-ground timber edging, 80 cube of mulch, 400 weedmatt squares and hardwood stakes to secure the most vulnerable shrubs. Planting is now taking shape, filling out and providing valuable wind shelter for lawn and pool areas.

When our new house was built, it was surrounded by nothing but mud, dirt, and metal. We asked Carl to transform the space, and he delivered a beautiful oasis. He designed a landscape full of native trees, plants, and bushes, as well as a small orchard. He even included plants to break the wind and create a stunning variety of colors.

Carl handled the entire project from start to finish-the design, project management, hardscaping, earthworks, lawn, and planting. Two years later, the growth is incredible. It’s been amazing to watch our garden come to life and enjoy it every single day, all thanks to Carl.
