Ellerslie International Flower Show 2010

Carl Pickens designed and built the Silver Distinction Award winning garden ‘Peace by Piece’ for the 2010 Ellerslie International Flower Show in Christchurch. This garden asked a simple question….’what can we do to make the world a better place?’ Carl invited people all over New Zealand including school children in Christchurch to answer this question. Answers were transcribed onto recycled wine bottles and placed into a series of curved walls designed to mimic the sacred geometric pattern ‘flower of life’. This was a garden that could not have realized without the help of many sponsors, including all the people who willingly gave their time to write messages on bottles.
