Snells Beach

In 2024 Carl was engaged to design a low maintenance and visually stimulating garden for a retired couple with gardening experience in Snells Beach, Auckland.

A two month design process (in which the clients had considerable input) produced a design with strong architectural elements (linear paving/ louvered courtyard/ sculptural planting)  balanced by a serpentine path.  

What makes this garden particularly interesting is the view from the balcony – a birds eye view (more or less). Architectural forms of path and paving really stand out when viewed from above.  

It is also a calm garden to be in with all it’s earthy tones and forms.
